This Take-off Technician provides accurate and timely calculations, quantity take-offs, bid deliveries, material control, and other technical and administrative duties. This role is responsible for providing efficient and effective technical and administrative support for the Estimating function of the business.
Essential Function and Responsibiities:
- Contributes to the smooth operation of the Estimating function through day-to-day activities such as picking up plans,
delivering bids, making copies, and archiving plans. - Supports estimating goals and objectives by proactively resolving challenges and issues and completing technical
and administrative projects in a timely and accurate manner. - Interprets construction project designs and drawings to calculate material quantity requirements (i.e. take-offs) for
one or more disciplines. - Researches historical data used in estimating function and compiles relevant data to use in bid proposals estimates.
Checks bid proposal forms for accuracy. - Gathers feedback and continuously makes improvements to work processes, practices, and equipment.
- Collaborates across departments and supports consistent technical practices and administrative procedures.
- Builds and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Maintains a favorable impression of the company with external customers through professional and courteous interactions.
- Supports safety programs and standards to provide a safe, healthy work environment.
- Completes internal administrative organization and documentation, including project logs, files, records and reports
pertaining to Engineering Services function. - Performing clerical duties such as setting up and maintaining department files for inclusion in bid proposals.
- Maintain files of working documents for back up to estimating figures.
Position Qualification:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of drafting and ability to read and interpret blueprints preferred
- Knowledge of geometry and basic trigonometry
- Ability to consistently appear for work on time
- Excellent organizational Skills
- Strong sense of responsibility regarding timely and accurate completion of work, and a strong commitment to corporate goals.
