Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
 
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario  The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

 

About The Role

Position: Haulage Miner (6 Month Temporary)

Schedule: Shift 7/7 – 12 hour days and nights 

Term: 6 Months

Position Reports To: Mine Supervisor

 

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a dedicated and hard working individual to join our team as a Haulage Miner for a term of 6 month contract with the potential for a full-time opportunityThe role of the Haulage Miner  is to provide support to mine operations, mainly through operating heavy equipment to ensure that production activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner and production objectives are met. No prior experience is required. The successful applicant will recieve on the job training to aquire the necessary skills and knowledge required for the position. We are looking for an applicant who will have great attendance, positive work attitude and willingness to learn. 

* Preference will be given to local residents of the Rainy River District. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Haulage Miner responsibilities vary depending on level of experience and qualifications and may include the following activities:

  • Operate mining equipment in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with New Gold site policies, procedures and SOP's
  • Perform pre-operational checks and regular cleaning, lubricates and refills equipment to ensure the equipment runs safely and efficiently
  • Operate haul truck to transport overburden, waste, and ore from the mine
  • Effecient communication with supervisors and other equipment operators
  • Other activities to ensure safe, efficient and productive surface mining operations
  • Record and maintain equipment log
  • Notify dispatch of any equipment maintenance required

 

Qualifications

  • 1 year operating machinery considered an asset but not necessary
  • Heavy Equipment Operator Training is desirable
  • Ontario Common Core Training is an asset

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to understand and follow Safety Operating Practices
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Aptitude to demonstrate safety procedures is essential in this role
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and signage
  • Ability to think and act decisively
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Physically fit with the ability to perform physical labour
