Key Accountabilities
- Operates heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, and graders in oilfield and construction environments.
- Performs trenching, excavation, grading, backfilling, and material handling activities per job requirements.
- Conducts daily inspections and routine maintenance of assigned equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, site plans, and instructions from supervisors to determine work specifications.
- Assists with job site preparation and clean-up, including staging of materials and installation of safety barriers.
- Maintains accurate logs of equipment use, maintenance activities, and work performed.
- Participates in rig-up/rig-down procedures as needed, particularly when working with auxiliary equipment.
- Engages in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) processes and regular safety meetings.
- Communicates effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and third-party contractors on job sites.
- May operate additional equipment such as skid steers or forklifts as required.
- Complies with all the Company's Safety and Environmental policies, practices, and programs.
- Performs other job-related duties and training assignments as required.
Education, Certificates, Licenses
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL with endorsements is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum one year of experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, or graders in construction, oilfield, or similar environments.
- Experience with trenching, excavation near underground utilities, and working in remote or rugged conditions is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with pipeline installation or well-servicing operations is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Critical:
- Demonstrated skill in safe and precise operation of heavy equipment in varying conditions.
- Strong awareness of job site hazards, especially related to underground utilities and unstable ground.
- Ability to read and follow site plans and instructions with minimal supervision.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Physically capable of working in demanding outdoor environments.
Required:
- Effective communication skills and the ability to follow verbal and written directions.
- Understanding of DOT regulations and equipment log requirements.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and travel as job demands.

The pay range for this position in California is between $25.00 per hour and $26.00 per hour. Please note that the hourly rate information is a general guideline, and that the hourly rate will vary depending on your location.
