Optim Surgery Center is seeking a PRN Radiology Technologist for the Savannah, GA location.
JOB TITLE: Radiologic Technologist
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the X-RAY Supervisor
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned). Responsible to assists physicians and nurses with the use of C-arm and procedures that utilize the C-Arm.
- Responsible for proper use of light system to get patients
- Responsible for identifying patient and exam
- Ensuring correct exam will be done if questions about what the doctor may want.
- Safely escort patient to radiology department
- Provide patient confidentiality
- Create a patient folder by placing information into the computer prior to starting the exam
- Provide patient radiation protection
- Position patient for each view ordered
- Make exposure using ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) technical factors and proper collimation
- Use QA (Quality Assurance) with each view taken to ensure correct identification of body part (L-R), acceptable technical factors and positioning
- Store each patient’s study to the Pacs System
- Ensure charges properly match exams done
- Return patient to the exam room
- Assist doctors and staff with Pac’s questions
- Make copies of film to paper, film or disks for doctors and patients
- Responsible for taking scout radiographs for MRI patients
- Assist film library with filing outside film in the computer
- Maintain proper radiation protection for self when holding patients
- Assist film library with mailing back outside film
- Provide coverage of film library when personnel absent
- Provide coverage for Saturday and evening hours
- Adhere to schedules provided weekly and monthly
- Attend seminars and read bimonthly publications
- Take direct readings tests for continuing education to keep certification current
- Performs related work as required
- Connect patient studies in the Pacs System daily
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion, including handling patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Frequent standing and walking or other means of mobility for extended periods of time. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to radiation. Requires working under stress in emergency situations or during irregular hours.
WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Knowledge of principles and practices of Radiological Technology
2. Knowledge of surgical positioning of patients
3. Knowledge of medications
4. Knowledge of common safety measures needed to maintain a safe work environment concerning Radiation.
5. Skill in use of various forms of xray machines
6. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and nursing personnel.
7. Ability to communicate clearly.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate from an accredited Radiological Technology program.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
Radiological Technologist degree
CPR certification
