About the Department
This position is crucial to advancing the County's economic initiatives and providing essential administrative support to the Director of Economic Development in executing a comprehensive economic development program. The position requires professionalism and a strong commitment to representing the County's values, facilitating effective communication, managing key projects, and engaging with stakeholders. This position requires attention to detail and a proactive approach, ensuring all interactions reflect positively on the County's mission.
Position Duties
- Coordinates activities to support tourism development within the County.
- Assists with programs in economic development activities (i.e., business retention and expansion (BRE); marketing; tourism/agritourism; place making/main street.
- At the direction of the Director, assists with communications and media releases of Economic Development functions through social media, press releases and website maintenance.
- Assists in the design and production of graphic content including advertisements, displays, promotions, videography and photographs.
- Assist with planning and execution of events for Economic Development.
- Promotes ongoing region-wide communication and knowledge on Economic Development issues.
- Receives and responds to citizen requests, complaints, and inquiries.
- Analyzes and compiles economic and demographic data.
- Performs related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a bachelor’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, such as economics or business administration, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to use personal computer and work with associated equipment.
Other Qualifications
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to Economic Development.
- Knowledge of history, tourist attractions, economic resources, business opportunities and offerings of the County.
- Knowledge of geographic layout of County and surrounding areas.
- Ability to communicate the county’s Economic Development policies effectively
- Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with local businesses and community organizations
- Ability to maintain cooperative and effective relationships with intradepartmental and interdepartmental personnel, as well as external entities with whom position interacts.
