Summary:
Drive operational performance through partnering with the manufacturing team, finance team and other stakeholders of the organization. Reporting to the Cost Accounting Manager, this position plays a key role in helping the business understand performance through robust standard costing, variance analysis, creation and tracking of KPIs and reporting results.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provides management with reporting and analysis of monthly/weekly/daily business performance, specifying and comparing factors affecting profitability of products or services.
- Maintenance of standard cost system including daily costing of new items as well as coordinating and completing the annual standards update.
- Perform variance analysis on material, labor and overhead costs while identifying drivers and corrective actions.
- Key participant in month end closing of the General Ledger.
- Ensure the accuracy of stated inventory values by supporting the cycle count process and key participant in the set-up and coordination of all accounting aspects of the annual physical inventory (as needed)
- Inventory Management – including but not limited to Inventory Balance Reconciliation, Excess & Obsolete reserve calculation
- Assist in all audits as needed.
- Perform Gross Margin analysis and other analytic reporting as needed to support the business.
- Work with Supervisors & manufacturing personnel to develop accurate product costs using Lean Principles.
- Responsible for monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review and provide analysis of all justifications for new capital expenditures.
- Appraises and evaluates real property or equipment for sale, acquisition, or tax purposes.
- Sets the highest ethical standards for self and others.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- With a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, must have a minimum of 2 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Computer skills – strong Excel skills required, Oracle, Epicor or other MRP software experience required.
- Ability to aggregate large amounts of data into meaningful reporting including insights and recommendations. Good communications skills both written and verbal.
- Technically proficient with standard costing systems (BOM, routings, work center rates, std cost rolls, variance analysis).
