About the Department
This position is responsible for supervising and assisting nursing students with lab and clinical student learning objectives.
Position Duties

*Evaluates student performance and assists nursing students with practicing procedures, and communicates outcomes to students and faculty
*Designs, develops, and updates clinical simulation activities
*Monitors and maintains confidential student records including the tracking of student hours, student performance and completion of lab activities
*Maintains clean, organized lab environment
*Maintains a current schedule of all nursing labs to include planned clinical lab activities, supervised practice and remediation
Assists faculty in providing laboratory and simulation experience
Assists with the development, implementation and evaluation of new and existing human patient simulator scenarios
Performs simulation demonstrations for classes and visitors
Assists in ordering lab supplies and equipment
Remains current in the areas of best practice techniques or evidenced-based practice in nursing care
Assists faculty with updating procedure guidelines as needed
Plans and schedules remediation activities within one week of notification
Maintains and remains current and able to operate all equipment in lab
Assists with program advisement, retention and recruitment efforts
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Good organizational skills
Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
Proficiency in communication skills, both written and oral
Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential
Ability to relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social and education backgrounds
Demonstrate skills necessary to look at situations and processes critically to make recommendations for improvement
Requirements:
Master of Science in Nursing

Registered Nurse with a current unrestricted North Carolina nursing license.
Two calendar years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse in a position involving direct patient care
Must be able to complete the educational requirements of the Board of Nursing within three (3) years of hire
Able to meet clinical agency requirements including CPR certifications, proof of immunizations, and criminal background check
Preferences:
Master of Science in Nursing Education
Experience in Maternal-Child nursing and/or behavioral health
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (SSH)
