SUMMARY 

Assist Finance Director with day-to-day management of the Finance Department. Provides day-to-day supervision of the Finance Department’s staff. Oversees grants management and agency cash flow.  

Job Duties 

  1. Accountable for assigned governmental and non-governmental grants budget tracking and vouchering.  
  2. Assist YWCA grant management team with new and existing grant budget proposals.
  3. Provide direct supervision and support to the Accounts Payable Finance Assistant and Payroll Finance Assistant in performing their day-to-day functions.
  4. Cross train with Human Resources to provide backup for all payroll functions.
  5. Assist in budget preparation for all departments.  Ensure related cash flow budget input to MIP (accounting system).
  6. Assist Finance Director with the oversight of finance department operations including all billings and grants, month end entries, posting all revenues and receipts, producing monthly financial statements and general ledger reports. 
  1. Assist Division Directors and Program Supervisors with financial questions.
  2. Assist in agency and governmental audits. Implement recommendations of audit management letter.
  3. Participate in subsidiary meetings with property managers.
  4. Participate in Investment and Audit committee meetings. Assist with meeting schedules and work plans
  5. Ensure adequate internal controls are in place.
  6. Design accounting reports through Excel as needed.
  7. Demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to cultural differences.
  8. Demonstrate and monitor compliance with all appropriate privacy and security standards as defined by the YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County.
  9. Attend YWCA staff and community meetings as required.
  10. Perform other duties as requested.

RELEVANT BACKGROUND 

Experience and Education Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards and practices is preferred
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Experience with MIP accounting software a plus (not required)

Additional Requirements 

  • Must possess a valid NYSDL and have access to a vehicle.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT 

Usual human services office working conditions prevail. Must be willing to travel to conferences and community events. Must be available to work 37.5 hours per week and the work hours may include evenings or weekends.
