Position: Operations Manager

Job Description:

The role of the Operations Manager is all about ensuring smooth, efficient, and high-quality transportation services. You’ll oversee daily activities and guide a team of operations personnel, helping to drive continuous improvement across the board. Whether it’s working through internal or external customer questions, ensuring shipments go out on time and in the right way, or keeping inbound and outbound transportation moving steadily, your focus is on consistency, accuracy, and service. You’ll also play a key role in supporting professional, solutions-oriented communication - whether that’s with customers, team members, or other departments - to help us deliver on our service commitments every day.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Management of the loading and unloading of floor loaded and palletized freight operations
  • Daily performance reporting includes but not limited to labor metrics, dock audit & resolution, OS&D physical support, driver release, quality control, dock audits, etc.
  • Coordinate facilities and equipment repair 
  • Assist in labor planning, scheduling, and evaluation
  • Support driver dispatch and routing
  • Utilize shipment boards to coordinate daily freight volume with customer service
  • Train policies and procedures to direct reports and manage accountability 
  • Compliance with company policies with respect to the employee handbook, safety regulations and use of company supplied equipment/resources
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, Bachelors Preferred
  • 5 years’ related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to supervise multiple employees comprised of company and temporary agency members 
  • Operation specific KPI measurement, results evaluation, and response
  • Independent discretion and judgment in the execution of business strategies by providing leadership & direction to the team 
  • Train, coach, develop and discipline direct reports on efficient work methods to increase terminal productivity 
  • Competent and effective conflict resolution
  • Exhibit sound and accurate judgment based on business implications and trends 
  • Develop and implement cost saving measures
  • Delegate work assignments set expectations and monitor delegated activities
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner applying common sense, understanding and developing alternative solutions
  • Pursue training and development opportunities, strive to continuously build knowledge and skills and share expertise with others
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Complete projects on time and within budget
  • Balance individual and team responsibilities
  • Consistently at work and on time
  • Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word and Outlook, and our internal programs like Transoft, & 7L
