PGH Wong Engineering, Inc. has a proud and lengthy history of delivering innovative, challenging, and complex projects. PGH Wong was established in 1985 on its extraordinary foundation in systems engineering and is now a full-service engineering, architecture, construction management, and program/project management consulting firm for public and private entities across the nation.
We are currently collecting applications for potential upcoming openings for an Inspector based in the Northern California (Sacramento/Stockton) area. While there is no active position at this time, we are proactively building our talent pipeline for future projects and staffing needs. Qualified candidates will be contacted as relevant opportunities become available.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Visits construction sites and inspects each stage of construction up to completion. Interpret plans, specifications, and codes and verify conformance of contract work.
- Prepares daily reports on labor, material, and equipment on site.
- Assists in obtaining approved designs and permits from utility companies for services to construction sites, as necessary.
- Determines whether construction conforms to plans and specifications, if prepares Non-Conformance Reports for corrective action.
- Review or prepare interim progress reports for contractor payments. Monitor contractor testing activities. Assists in the maintenance, support, and promotion of a safe work environment while complying with the project's safety rules, policies, and procedures. Monitors construction sites for safety violations.
- Arranges, coordinates, and oversees material testing and/or special inspections such as electrical, mechanical, landscaping, soil testing, concrete, asphalt mixes, and reinforcing steel for conformance to specification requirements.
- Coordinates test laboratory activities and compares verification test results from the contractor's laboratory.
- If Senior or Lead Inspector, may allocate inspection resources and supervise inspectors.
- Attend various meetings as needed.
- Perform other duties as may be required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Approximately five (5) years of experience for Associate positions, and approximately ten (10) years of experience for Senior and Lead positions which reflect a progressively increasing level of responsibility on complex projects as a General Contractor, Building Construction Supervisor, Building Inspector of large commercial or industrial construction projects, heavy construction utilities, civil, architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical and trackwork.
- ICC Certificate of Reinforced Concrete Masonry, ACI Registered Construction Inspection License, comparably Deputy Inspection License for a county for the city agency. NICET certification or other alternative certification form an acceptable nationally recognized organization is highly desirable, where applicable to the Inspection of that particular trade.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and Cal-OSHA/OSHA 30 training certification, or will obtain certification.
- Able to read plans and have a good understanding of project specifications.
- Must be able to interpret and implement company-mandated safety policies.
Skills and Competencies
- Must be able to submit written reports and documentation.
- Good organizational skills.
- Good Computer skills
