About Sock Club
Sock Club is a growing custom promotional products company focused on delivering exceptional service and speed in an industry known for the opposite. Our team of 65+ people is based in Austin, TX, and we pride ourselves on being a pleasure to work with while maintaining strong operational efficiency.
About the Role
We're seeking a BI professional who excels at democratizing data across organizations. You'll build Sock Club's analytics foundation and then focus on enabling all teams to become data-driven through self-service reporting, training, and scalable BI solutions. While you'll initially set up our data infrastructure, your primary mission is making data accessible and actionable for everyone. This role requires 3+ days/week in our Austin, TX office (remaining 2 days can be remote).
Primary Responsibilities
- Data Democratization (70% of role): Train non-technical teams to build their own reports and analyses in Sigma
- Self-Service Analytics: Design intuitive data models and dashboards that teams can easily understand and modify
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Work directly with Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Product teams to understand their analytical needs
- Analytics Training: Conduct workshops and create documentation to build data literacy across the organization
- Stakeholder Enablement: Transform complex data into business-friendly insights and recommendations
Technical Foundation Work (30% of role)
- Establish cost-effective data pipelines from Hubspot, APIs, and other sources to and from Snowflake
- Build business-friendly data structures in Sigma that allow teams to easily find and use data without technical knowledge
- Optimize Snowflake spend and performance
- Create and maintain data governance standards
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Enablement Focus: You get energized by teaching others and building systems that scale beyond yourself
- Business Partnership: You've successfully worked with non-technical stakeholders to solve business problems with data
- Technical Foundation: Strong enough in Snowflake/Sigma/SQL to build reliable infrastructure, but your passion is the business application
Note: While this role involves some technical infrastructure work initially, we're specifically looking for someone excited about the people and process side of analytics. If you prefer heads-down technical work, this may not be the right fit.
Required Experience
- 4+ years in BI roles with significant stakeholder-facing responsibilities
- Proven track record of building self-service analytics capabilities
- Experience training non-technical teams on BI tools
- Strong Snowflake and Sigma experience (or extensive experience with similar modern BI tools and willingness to learn Sigma quickly)
- Advanced SQL and data modeling skills
- Excellent communication and teaching abilities
Preferred Background
- Previous experience scaling analytics at growing companies
- Experience with change management and user adoption initiatives
- Background in data governance and best practices
What Success Looks Like
- Teams across the organization regularly create their own reports without your direct involvement
- Reduced time-to-insight for business questions
- High user adoption rates of self-service tools
- Cost-effective and reliable data infrastructure
Growth Opportunity
This role has the potential to evolve into a more senior data leadership position as the company continues to grow. We're looking for someone who can grow with us and eventually lead a larger analytics function.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary: $85,000 - $110,000 (based on experience)
- Health insurance, dental, and vision
- 401(k) with company match
- Flexible PTO policy
