Training Specialist, Jays Care Programs
Specialists on the Jays Care Programs team have 5+ years experience working with children and youth facing significant barriers. Specialists are tasked with supporting a wide range of projects that are all designed to help level the playing field. Our work enables us to work with and support communities facing a wide range of barriers including, but not limited to: poverty, food insecurity, inaccessibility, ableism, racism, sexism, and homophobia. Every project we devote time, funding and energy to has been well-researched, informed by our wide range of advisors, and is designed specifically to break down barriers and fortify strengths for children and youth.

Type of role: 1 year contract
Reporting to: Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
Training Roles and Responsibilities:
- Jays Care staff development
- Support the implementation of a comprehensive staff development strategy that covers best in class onboarding, training, and professional development
- Assist in establishing a range of key training and development competencies for all JCF staff
- Co-design and implement bespoke training workshops for a range of JCF staff
- Design training assessment tools and evaluate impact
- Provide access to on-going professional development workshops from external partners based on need and interest
- Volunteer coach development, training, and standards
- Conduct a comprehensive review of feedback and evaluations data provided by volunteer coaches from JCF programs to assess and define potential needs, interests and opportunities for growth
- Assist in the creation of a comprehensive strategy for coach development, training, and standards across all JCF programs that includes but is not limited to:
- Identifying core training competencies
- Recommendations on long-term skill and capacity development
- Incentives programs
- Assessment and evaluation
- Program curriculum and training Standards:
- Co-lead comprehensive review of all current JCF training content, program resources and tools
- Support regular assessments and evaluations of training programs, program content, and resources to identify areas for improvement, provide coaching support, and make necessary revisions to enhance program effectiveness
- Ensure that all training programs, content, and resources within JCF are aligned with best practices, industry standards, and the organization's mission as defined by the Theory of Change.
In addition to the aforementioned training roles and responsibilities, Specialists on the Jays Care team are expected to be highly driven, have a phenomenal work ethic and be skilled at working independently as well as in a team. In an average year, Specialists tend to work on 3-5 major projects applying the following skills on a regular basis:

DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Social Work, Kinesiology, Equity Studies, or related field i.e. human services, health or education
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- 2+ years working with children and/or youth living in historically marginalized communities
- 2+ years designing and implementing sport/rec-based programs
- 2+ years leading trainings/workshops for adults
- Good demonstration of problem-solving skills and ability to work in a group
- Strong technology skills with competency in PowerPoint, Excel and different online communication platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
- Willingness to work outside of regular 9-5 schedule
- Valid ‘G’ Driver’s License
- Fluency in French is an asset
