Role Summary:
As the Piping Lead, you will oversee all aspects of piping engineering and design for power plants and other energy infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective piping systems, from feasibility through commissioning. This includes the development and review of key deliverables, design coordination, stress analysis, and compliance with international codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the piping engineering team and manage plant layout and piping design for power and energy projects.

  • Develop and review piping deliverables including plant layouts, GADs, piping layouts, isometric drawings, piping material specifications, and BOQs/MTOs.

  • Conduct stress and flexibility analysis using CAESAR II or equivalent tools.

  • Prepare and validate key documentation such as line lists, valve schedules, and material specifications.

  • Ensure design compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.1, B31.3, API).

  • Participate in key project reviews including 3D model reviews, HAZOP, HAZID, and ensure closure of all piping-related action items.

  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, and other disciplines for integrated plant design.

  • Interface with clients, vendors, and contractors to resolve technical queries and ensure adherence to project requirements.

  • Review and provide input on vendor piping drawings, calculations, and data sheets.

  • Develop and enforce design philosophies including piping support, insulation, and material selection.

  • Prepare and manage technical queries, design deviations, and change notes.

  • Provide technical guidance during construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning stages.

  • Ensure piping systems meet all safety, quality, and environmental regulations.

  • Support continuous improvement and standardization within the piping discipline.

  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Project Manager or Engineering Manager.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent is an advantage.

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in piping design within power, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sectors.

  • Extensive experience with FEED, basic, and detailed design of piping systems.

  • Prior experience with combined cycle power plants and H/J-class gas turbine integration preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of international piping codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API).

  • Proficiency in design and modeling tools such as CAESAR II, AutoCAD, PDMS, SP3D, or equivalent.

  • Experience in 3D plant design, stress analysis, and review of complex layouts.

  • Strong coordination, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Ability to handle multi-disciplinary interfaces and work effectively in a team environment.

  • Willingness to travel and support site-based assignments as needed.

  • Excellent spoken and written English.
