Job Profile
We are looking for Arts Instructors to lead sewing classes, pottery classes and visual arts classes.
What you will be doing
Sewing Instructor: You will develop and lead dynamic, engaging sewing and fabric art classes for learners of all ages at the Cambridge Centre for the Arts that inspire children to learn, grow and use their skills to imaginatively and creatively express themselves.
- Develop and lead fabric art classes using a variety of media, techniques and themes including summer camps, after-school, Saturday programs and weekend workshops
- Keep program rooms and supplies organized
- Greet and orient children and parents to the facility and programs
- Maintain health and safety regulations; ensure code of conduct is followed
Pottery Instructor: You will develop and teach pottery classes for learners of all ages.
- Instructor is expected to teach learners with diverse backgrounds and abilities hand building techniques, working on the wheel, and glazing skills in an engaging and enthusiastic manner that encourages and supports participants in their creativity, learning and skill development
- Ensures safety and well-being of students, follows all required studio and City procedures, and interacts in a constructive manner with parents of younger participants
- Maintains a tidy, functioning studio space
- Communicates and interacts with patrons and staff in a positive, effective, professional manner.
Visual Arts Instructor: You will develop and lead dynamic, engaging visual art programs for learners of all ages at the Cambridge Centre for the Arts.
- Develop and lead visual art programs using a variety of media, techniques and themes including summer camps, after school, Saturday programs and weekend workshops
- Keep program rooms and supplies organized
- Greet and orient children and parents to facility and programs
- Maintain health and safety regulations; ensure code of conduct is followed
Education
- High school Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Post-secondary degree in Visual Art of equivalent considered an asset
Experience and Knowledge
- Extensive experience in the medium of focuse, ie. sewing and fabric arts, pottery, visual art etc.
- Additional training in Childhood Education, Recreation or similar (considered an asset)
- Demonstrated experience developing and leading arts programs using a variety of media, techniques and themes for children ages 6-13
- Keen and enthusiastic attitude and approach to children, parents and arts programming
- Excellent organizational and customer service skills

We will ask you for these items if you are hired
Rate of pay
The hourly rate range is from $20 to $40 and will be determined based on experience and education/training.
Hours of work
Hours of work are dependent on the number of participants taking part in our programs; as such, there are no minimum hours associated with this position. Mandatory on-line and in person training sessions to be scheduled periodically.
