Quality Control Analyst
GENERAL FUNCTION
This position is responsible for conducting prefunding and post-close quality control audits, as well as adverse action and early payment default reviews to ensure residential mortgage loans comply with regulatory requirements and investor guidelines. In addition to loan-level testing, the role will collaborate with leadership to support root cause analysis and contribute to the development and enhancement of departmental policies, procedures, and processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct prefunding, post-close, adverse action, and early payment default reviews of residential mortgage loans.
- Perform comprehensive underwriting and compliance analyses, including but not limited to income calculations for both wage-earning and self-employed borrowers, debt-to-income and loan-to-value ratio assessments, credit evaluations, review of initial and final disclosures, collateral assessments, and title documentation analysis.
- Document all actions taken for each loan in the QC database, ensuring alignment with defect ratings and exception classifications.
- Responsible for meeting established performance standards, audit milestones, and cycle deadlines.
- Participate in recurring meetings to analyze quality trends and offer recommendations that enhance alignment with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, USDA, VA, and private investor guidelines.
- Complete red flag reviews as assigned by leadership and provide a comprehensive summary of findings upon conclusion of each risk investigation.
- Utilize the ConnectWise platform to manage and track daily tasks, loan reviews, and client interactions.
- Support special projects and other assignments as designated by leadership.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the mortgage industry.
- Well-versed in government and agency underwriting guidelines, as well as prefunding and post-close Quality Control requirements.
- Foundational knowledge of mortgage lending practices and consumer protection laws, including but not limited to the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), Unfair, Deceptive, Abusive Acts, and Practices (UDAAP), Fair Lending regulations, and advertising compliance requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
- Highly organized and analytical, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and meet established deadlines.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving industry standards and responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS
- Familiarity with ACES QC Platform.
- Proficient using Encompass Loan Origination System.
- Minimum 1-year Quality Control and/or Quality Assurance experience.
TECHNOLOGY
- Adept utilizing Microsoft Office.
- Practical understanding of automated underwriting systems.
