Job Summary: Store Associates work either independently or as part of a team in any assigned retail area of a commissary store within the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) system, performing a variety of duties including handling, preparing, and stocking grocery and produce items, and checking-out customer purchases. Specific assignments vary by individual store and store management requirements.

Major Duties:

• Conducts quality assurance inspections and contractor surveillance. Provides comments and recommendations for additions, deletions, or changes to contractor services to ensure compliance with DeCA directives. Approves or rejects contractor's work schedule and checks work for quality and timeliness. Maintains the store's allocations program by such duties as designating to the contractor proper item shelf locations when shelf tags are missing or otherwise not identifiable. Advises commissary or contracted order writers. Acts as the commissary manager's representative during the night time hours to ensure government property is secure. Qualifications: You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume must clearly show that you have one (1) year of experience conducting quality assurance inspections and contract surveillance duties specified commissary or retail grocery contract services. Applying retail grocery store administration policies and procedures as they relate to established contracts. Monitoring vendors and or contractors in a retail setting to ensure proper inventory. (specialized experience) equivalent to at least GS-05. Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) basic requirement and qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Additional Requirements that must be met by the closing date: Physical requirements: (1) Stand, stoop, kneel, bend and climb for prolonged periods. Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks, including current employees applying under VEOA.
