The Illumina Lab Services (ILS) team is looking to hire a Director, Clinical Pathology to join their team at the laboratory in Foster City, CA to support a clinical testing menu for oncology, with opportunities to expand into clinical whole genome sequencing for genetic disease testing. In this role you will support the Clinical Laboratory Director to ensure that oncology testing meets medical, professional and regulatory performance standards. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a CLIA Lab with a successful record in working across all functions in the laboratory (laboratory operations, test development, bioinformatics and software, quality and customer service and support) to ensure that patient testing is performed to the highest standards. Candidates with previous experience in somatic oncology molecular testing are strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
Provides interpretation of special test results, such as solid tumor comprehensive genomic profiling and genetic testing
Provides microscopic examination for selection of tumor area for molecular testing
Provide interpretation of molecular diagnostic reports with variant curation, interpretation, and comprehensive summary analyses
Provides consultation of laboratory results with ordering physicians as needed
Works with cross functional teams within the laboratory for new product launches
Collaborates cross functionally in development and validation of methods and selection of appropriate tests
Support and review of appropriate validation studies to implement and ensure high quality, clinically appropriate and regulatory compliant testing services
Keeps current with medical knowledge as it relates to genetics and oncology and is able to use all relevant informational resources to acquire and evaluate evidence-based information
Strong communication skills; verbal and written
Supports CLIA and CAP compliance of services and products offered through Illumina Laboratory Services
Requirements:
MD or DO in good standing with board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) and board certification or experience in Molecular Pathology

The estimated base salary range for the Director, Clinical Pathology role based in the United States of America is: $254,400 - $381,600. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
