Job Summary: This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. Major Duties:

  • DUTY 1: Develops maintenance plans for assigned aircraft and associated equipment. Interprets design and/or production engineering data, standards of work processes, and master repair plans. DUTY 2: Implements maintenance plans through the development and publication of maintenance schedules to include scheduled and unscheduled repair actions, time-sensitive inspections or modifications, component time change replacement and aircraft or system inspections. DUTY 3: Develops preliminary operational schedules (utilization plans) and provides the Operations Group with an estimate of maintenance support capability to meet operational requirements. DUTY 4: Responsible for maintaining Data Documentation to include Aircraft Maintenance Historical Documentation, Aircraft Jacket Files, Aircraft Document Reviews. DUTY 5: Coordinates the implementation of the Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) Program, to include the application of individual TCTOs. Serves as Aerospace Vehicle Distribution Officer (AVDO) to include the overall responsibilities for the maintenance and reporting of aircraft inventory and status/utilization for all assigned aircraft. DUTY 6: Monitors configuration management of the unit aircraft. Provides unit managers the capability to determine the actual versus approved configuration of an aircraft or equipment.Conducts training and skill level progression of assigned Air Force Reserve production schedulers.

Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of all functional areas within the 2W0 munitions career field and the automated systems required to be used in the career field to include CAS, AFMC2, IMDS/G081, and TMRS. OR EDUCATION: One full year of graduate level education. Education demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to do the work of this position. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Less one year of specialized experience described above; however, more than one year of graduate level education which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. Therefore, a combination of experience and education. FEDERALTIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Ability to plan, schedule, and take corrective action to meet emergency and regular workload requirements. Knowledge of assigned equipment. Knowledge of and ability to interpret military aircraft and manufacturing terminology, technical orders, data, standards and instructions, and to relate them properly to the particular control projects assigned in preparing production plans and schedules and in maintaining effective follow-up. Knowledge of maintenance organizational structures and skill in the distribution of personnel to obtain a balance in workload. Knowledge and skill of appropriate production/technical processes and material posture of maintenance work centers to assure continuing availability of material requirement. Knowledge of aerospace systems, subsystems, components, and associated inspection, repair, modification, and supply processes. Skill in oral communication to effectively communicate with senior operations and maintenance personnel. Knowledge of and skill in the use of automated maintenance information systems and aircraft maintenance documentation processes to collect, compile, and correlate production data from a variety of sources and use that data to determine compliance status of scheduled maintenance, inspection, and modification actions. Ability to correlate and analyze a variety of routine production data, technical manuals, and directives to determine applicability. Knowledge of personnel management policies, practices, and procedures. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) enlisted position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow the incumbent to fully participate in unit Training Assemblies (UTAs). The incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, the incumbent may also be assigned non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. The incumbent must obtain and retain the Secret security clearance level designation for the position. The incumbent may be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments (TDY) away from normal duty station. The incumbent may be required to work overtime to meet workload demands. Performs other duties as assigned. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members; are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency. Individuals selected for ART positions must meet both civilian qualifications and uniformed military requirements.
