The IT Engineer - Cloud is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining the hospital’s cloud and virtualization infrastructure. This senior-level position requires deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and VMware. The role ensures optimal performance, availability, and compliance of all cloud-based and hybrid systems, while leveraging automation tools such as PowerShell to streamline operations.Required Behaviors:

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in IT infrastructure with a focus on cloud platforms and virtualization
- Expert-level knowledge of at least two major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, OCI), including architecture, security, identity management, and cost optimization
- Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter for server virtualization and management
- Proficiency in PowerShell and scripting for infrastructure automation
- Working knowledge of networking (VPN, DNS, firewalls), storage (blob/S3), and identity management across hybrid environments
- Demonstrated understanding of healthcare IT operations, security standards (HIPAA, HITECH), and business continuity planning
- Manage relationships with trust, honesty, respect, and integrity

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in IT, Cloud Engineering, Cybersecurity preferred or ten (10) or more years of experience
- Experience with AI-powered IT management, cloud-native operations, and legacy system migrations
- Strong understanding of secure systems design, HIPAA compliance, NIST frameworks, and encryption protocols
- Cloud certifications: MS Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or OCI Architect
- Standard Industry certifications: VMware VCP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Cisco CCIE
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments and on-prem to cloud migrations
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates, CloudFormation)
- Experience managing backups, DR solutions, and endpoint security in cloud environments
- Exposure to healthcare-specific systems or EMR platforms hosted in cloud or hybrid infrastructure
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Architect and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and OCI
- Manage and optimize VMware virtual environments including VM provisioning, performance tuning, and backups
- Lead the migration of on-prem systems to cloud-based platforms while maintaining operational continuity
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate system administration tasks and reporting
- Design and enforce cloud security and governance policies aligned with hospital standards and regulations
- Monitor system performance, usage, and costs across cloud platforms and recommend optimization strategies
- Configure cloud networking, identity services, and interconnectivity across multiple platforms
- Collaborate with application teams to support cloud-native and hybrid application deployments
- Perform incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation of infrastructure issues
- Create and maintain documentation for cloud configurations, automation processes, and architectural diagrams
- Serve as a senior escalation point for infrastructure issues and mentor junior engineers
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation
- Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to improve infrastructure resiliency and efficiency
- Performs additional responsibilities across teams as needed to support operational continuity, security posture, and cross-functional collaboration

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:
- Regularly on-site during scheduled shifts and quickly responsive, remote support when allowed or approved, occasional travel
- Primarily office-based, frequent computer use; could involve long-term walking, standing, bending, or assisting with physical aspects of projects in clinical or administrative areas. Rounding during go-lives is common
- Lifting and carrying of IT hardware and materials up to fifty (50) pounds
- Participation in scheduled shift coverage and on-call support for emergencies, maintenance, and upgrades
