Commercial Lines Account Manager

Account Managers are primarily responsible for servicing commercial lines insurance policies (new and renewal) while creating and maintaining strong relationships with customers, underwriters, and other professionals. 

Duties of an Account Manager include but are not limited to:

  • Client Relationship Management: Maintain strong, ongoing relationships with mid-market clients, ensuring their insurance needs are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Renewal Preparation & Support: Collaborate with the Account Executive to prepare renewal materials, including supplemental applications, loss summaries, and updated exposure data.
  • Policy Servicing: Handle day-to-day servicing tasks such as issuing certificates, processing endorsements, reviewing audits, and managing billing inquiries.
  • Coverage Analysis & Recommendations: Assess client exposures and recommend appropriate coverage enhancements or changes based on evolving business needs.
  • Carrier Coordination: Work with underwriters to negotiate terms, pricing, and coverage options; ensure timely delivery of binders, policies, and endorsements.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records in the agency management system, document client interactions, and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Internal Collaboration: Act as the liaison between the Account Executive, carriers and internal support teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Client Education: Explain coverages terms, exclusions, and audit procedures in clear language to help clients make informed decisions.
  • Market Awareness: Stay current on carrier appetites, industry trends, and regulatory changes to proactively advise clients and support renewal strategies.

Requirements

  • 3+ year of experience in commercial insurance account management, preferably with mid-market clients
  • Active Property & Casualty license
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance coverages, underwriting, and risk analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, & Teams)
  • Excellent written and verbl communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage a high-volume book of business.
  • Proven ability to work collaoratively with Account Executives and carrier partners
