To ensure the stability, performance, and security of MedQuest’s Microsoft-based infrastructure by providing advanced support, maintenance, and optimization of Microsoft 365, Active Directory (AD), Exchange (Online and On-Prem), and related enterprise services.
The Microsoft Engineer is responsible for handling day-to-day escalated support tickets, executing changes and improvements to Microsoft services, and collaborating across departments to ensure secure and efficient operations.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, proactive problem-solving skills, and strong documentation and communication practices.
Responsibilities:- Support & Ticket Resolution: Serve as the escalation point for complex technical support issues related to Microsoft services, ensuring timely and accurate resolutions.
- Microsoft 365 Administration: Manage and maintain Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Intune.
- Active Directory: Administer on-prem and hybrid AD environments, including user/group management, Group Policy, and domain services.
- Exchange Server: Support and maintain Exchange Online and on-premise environments, including mail flow, mailbox policies, and server health monitoring.
- Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain Microsoft security controls, including Conditional Access, MFA, Defender for M365, and Secure Score improvements.
- Patch Management & Updates: Apply service updates, patches, and security improvements to Microsoft systems in accordance with change management processes.
- Identity Management: Work with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) for identity governance, SSO integration, and lifecycle management.
- Documentation: Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, including SOPs, architecture diagrams, and knowledge base articles.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor health, performance, and usage of Microsoft services, and produce relevant reports and insights.
- Collaboration: Partner with other IT teams on cross-functional projects and escalations, ensuring alignment and seamless operations.
- Project Work: Participate in the planning, execution, and delivery of IT infrastructure projects, ensuring timely and quality implementation of Microsoft technologies.
Education:
- A four-year university degree or college diploma in computer science, information systems, business, or equivalent work experience in a related field.
Technical Expertise:
- 5+ years hands-on experience supporting Microsoft enterprise platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration.
- Strong knowledge of AD, DNS, DHCP, and GPO.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting.
- Experience with hybrid identity (Azure AD Connect, Entra ID).
- Working knowledge of Exchange hybrid deployments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Security tools and compliance standards (HIPAA, NIST, etc.).
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools for performance management and incident response.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Proficiency in advanced monitoring, logging, and observability tools and practices, including custom metric collection and alerting setup.
- Experience with project management, including the ability to plan and execute complex DevOps projects.
- Experience using ITSM tools and following ITIL-based processes.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
