As a Technical Specialist for Brakes, you will be responsible to Braking system related specification development, establishing requirements and validation framework and cascade from Vehicle to System to Component. Build in house knowledge base for Braking system and components.
Role
· Establish component requirements and specifications based on desired vehicle attributes and targets
· Establish and Manage SFMEA , establish framework to link them to vehicle and component FMEA.
· Support component DFMEAs and DVP reviews with suppliers and contribute to system failure mode analyses.
· Review and approve specification deviations requests from component owners .
· Support technical design reviews for System/Subsystem/Component
· Coach, Mentor, & Train brakes design and release engineers
· Support Signoff of System/Subsystem/Component based after DV and PV completion
· Provide technical support to the Architecture, vehicle dynamics, Range and efficiency teams, Vehicle Control , Vehicle Integration teams.
· Conduct benchmarking to optimize component design for future programs.
· Leverage CAE modelling capability to optimize quality, maximize efficiency and minimize cost
· Contribute to the braking technology roadmap for future vehicles
· Manage lesson learned database and update specifications .
Qualifications
· 8+ years of automotive industry experience at OEM or supplier with Braking system
· In Depth Understanding of Braking system specification, Global Regulations, Failure modes.
· Experience in specification development and validation planning.
· Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% if needed
· Expertise in DFMEA, DVP , Functional safety , Complex problem solving.
Advantageous
· 13+ years of automotive industry experience
· Experience and proficiency with JAMA, 3DX, ANSYS
· Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, NVH, and vehicle crash safety principles
· Ability to run and teach others to use brake sizing tools.
· Experience and understanding of automotive mechatronics design and control theory
