Special Needs Coordinator - Transportation

    

Job Description:

Coordinates transportation for Special Education students, between the schools, the transportation provider, the scheduling team, and the student’s guardians. Responsible for working collaboratively with the special needs teachers, coordinators, transportation staff and for maintaining positive communication with parents, support workers, and other professionals as required to provide transportation that best fits the needs of the student. Facilitates least restrictive environment placement of special needs students. The position is 40 hours per week; longer hours are often required during the beginning of school.

    

Position Specific Information (if Applicable):

    

Responsibilities:

Improve problematic areas in transportation and parents/students

Collaborate with 3rd Party vendors to do initial on-boarding for the student and team

Address issues with vendors, parents, student, and transportation staff

Ride routes to help drivers/TEAs with student management/behaviors issues

Attend Transportation IEP meetings for the students

Continually monitor 3rd Party expectations as they pertain to the district and the students. This includes but is not limited to certifications, training, proficiency, safety, and security

Required to travel in and out of the district as needed to meet with students, teachers, transportation team, leadership, and 3rd Party vendors

Responsible for communicating to ensure that the department is in compliance with all rules and regulations and to keep up to date with training and learning opportunities

Comply with all rules and regulations and to keep up to date with training and learning opportunities available to Special Needs Services staff members

    

Certifications:

National Association for Pupil Transportation - Certification

    

Education:

High School or Equivalent

    

Skills:

Ability to prioritize projects and strong problem-solving skills, Assignments could include being in the elements and could include heat, snow, rain, and other weather-related conditions, Attend Conference and classes, Basic math skills, including fractions, percentages, and/or ratios, Frequent sitting; Occasional bending, squatting, or standing, Good research skills and attention to detail, Knowledge of operating standard office equipment, Maintain knowledge of current laws for students with disabilities, Occasional lifting five (5) to fifty (50) pounds, Preparing and maintaining accurate records, Proficiency in Word, Excel, Google Mail, and Google Calendar a must, Skills are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:, Strong computer skills; flexibility, Strong written and oral communication skills, Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions. Strong organizational and time management skills. Collaborative team player Maintains a generally positive attitude. Observes all District policies and procedures

$23.74 USD - $37.83 USD Hourly
  • All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
