Thermal Engineering International (USA) Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this essential position, you will be tasked with assessing customer specifications, conducting mechanical design calculations and related analyses (including numerical analysis/FEA), preparing, verifying, and/or reviewing manufacturing drawings, as well as documenting, presenting, and updating of these activities to others as required. Your expertise will be crucial in the development of standards to facilitate the thermal and mechanical design and drafting of various types of heat exchangers for the ASME Section III Program. Responsibilities

  • Conduct mechanical and structural calculations (including FEA), prepare design details, fabrication drawings, and bills of materials. Analyze foundation loading and perform code calculations.
  • Create performance curves, operating manuals, and heat exchanger analysis per HEI, ASME, TEMA, and PED standards. Use software tools and coordinate with specialty engineers as required.
  • Review fabrication drawings for conformity to client specification and applicable codes and standards.
  • Support technical comments and follow-up with customers during proposals and project execution.
  • Facilitate discussions on quality assurance and construction materials with external customers and internal departments, including engineering, estimating, supply management, and global sourcing.
  • Inform the Project Manager of contract changes affecting price, scope, cost, quality, or delivery schedule.
  • Develop in-house design automation programs for mechanical design and drafting of Heat Exchangers, linking output like bills of materials to an estimating program for sales support.
  • Perform onsite equipment inspections and create reports documenting findings.
  • Development and publish comprehensive engineering and design standards for all Section III product offerings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Nuclear or Chemical Engineering is required.
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Nuclear or Chemical Engineering is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering of ASME Section III and/or VIII Pressure Vessels and/or Heat Exchangers in power or Process/Oil & Gas market applications is required.
  •  Direct related work experience in designing various types of pressure vessels and heat exchangers in accordance with ASME Section VIII-1 & 2, ASME Section III, or HEI Standards is required.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members.
  • Active Professional Engineering (PE) license in Mechanical or Structural Discipline is preferred.
  • Qualification requirements of a Certifying Engineer as defined within ASME Section III is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ASME B31.1, AWS, and AISC is a plus.
  • Proficient in mechanical calculations and design software such as Intergraph CADWorx, PV Elite, Codeware Compress, RCS, HTRI, or similar tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Products: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel & Power Point.
  • Experience in FEA: Ansys, SolidWorks Simulation or Autodesk Inventor Nastran.
  • Knowledge of CFD is a plus: Ansys Fluent.
  • Proficient in Drafting: AutoCAD, Inventor or Solid Works.
  • Experience in Programming: Excel, Mathcad, Visual Basic or Others is a plus.

Compensation: $100,000 - $130,000 annually DOE
