Job Description:

Primary Function of Position:

As a Senior BI Engineer, you will be the creative force behind analytics solutions that drive business transformation. This role blends technical depth with strategic impact—you’ll design data pipelines, experiment with AI-driven insights, and build dashboards that do more than report—they inspire action.

You’ll bring curiosity, innovation, and technical fluency to a team where analytics goes beyond dashboards into the realm of intelligent storytelling and change enablement.

The Senior BI Engineer is responsible for shaping, developing, and delivering scalable analytics and reporting solutions that provide strategic value. This role involves close collaboration across business and technical teams to design robust data ecosystems, ensure data reliability, and deliver insights that influence strategic decision-making.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Data Analysis, Data Processing and Integration:

  • Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams to understand data requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy by implementing data validation and cleansing techniques.

Report Development:

  • Create visually appealing and informative reports, dashboards, and visualizations using reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau,Apache Superset or ThoughtSpot.
  • Interpret business requirements and translate them into actionable insights through data visualization.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to understand reporting needs and deliver solutions accordingly.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Quality Assurance:

  • Perform thorough testing of reports, and visualizations to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner.

Documentation:

  • Document data processes, transformations, and report specifications for future reference.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of developed solutions and workflows.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies related to data processing and reporting.
  • Proactively suggest improvements to existing processes and tools to enhance the overall data reporting ecosystem.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor junior analysts and engineers, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of learning.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure analytics initiatives align with business goals.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

Innovation & Prototyping

  • Prototype analytics solutions using APIs, Python, and AI/ML tools (e.g., Cortex AI).
  • Continuously evaluate emerging BI technologies and experiment with new tools for automation and intelligence.
Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-6 years of proven experience as a data engineer, business intelligence developer, or similar role.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and data manipulation libraries.
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, Apache Superset, ThoughtSpot etc.
  • Strong understanding of database concepts, data modeling, and ETL processes.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency and experience with modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake DB preferred)
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across distributed teams.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, with a passion for continuous learning and innovation
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and version control systems is beneficial.
