High-Level Overview
Client:
The client is a leading Africa-focused infrastructure investment manager raising a $200–$250 million energy transition fund dedicated to clean electrons, clean molecules, and sustainable transport. The fund targets 8–10 transactions, including 2–3 flagship electric mobility investments, with typical ticket sizes of $15–$30 million.
In electric mobility, the focus is on scaling B2B fleet management platforms – primarily asset-heavy, contracted models – serving businesses and governments. Target segments include 2/3 wheelers, 4-wheelers, trucks, and buses. These platforms may offer integrated solutions across the value chain, including vehicle provision, servicing, insurance, charging infrastructure, and potentially driver or rider management.
Project:
The fund is seeking a Strategic Sector Advisor to play an informal, light-touch role during capital raising and pipeline development – bringing deep operational insight and international best practice to shape investment theses and assess opportunities. This is not a full-time or fundraising role; however, the advisor may be featured in investor materials, participate in occasional calls with the investment team, and review early pipeline opportunities.
Over time, and depending on pipeline maturity, the advisor may be engaged for paid consulting during due diligence, commercial structuring, and execution, with potential for ongoing non-executive board roles across the life of selected investments.
This role is ideally suited for a senior professional or semi-retired executive seeking to remain engaged with frontier innovation and contribute to the early shaping of Africa’s EV investment ecosystem. The advisor’s contributions will directly support the fund’s ability to establish credibility, shape its EV strategy, and execute high-quality transactions over time.
