Duties
The function of the organization where this position is located is in official functional statements. The purpose of this position is to perform manual labor and minor maintenance tasks involving the use of common hand tools and simple power equipment during the evening and weekend shifts. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: I. Responsible to clean common use areas such as building 220 reservation area, conference center, offices, store rooms, stairway, bathhouses camper cabins, campsites, pavilions and empty trash cans, recycle bins when full or directed. Scrubs strips, waxes and polishes floors using heavy powered scrubbers, and buffers. Vacuum cleans rugs. Sweeps, dry and wet mops , scrubs, waxes and polishes floors, using brooms mops, vacuums cleaners and floor scrubbers and buffers; dusts, waxes and polishes furniture. Cleans televisions, computers, picture frames, etc. 2. Perform minor repairs such as replacing plugs on electrical cords, burners on ranges, etc. ensuring all electrical work will be performed while the unit is disconnected. Operate a motor vehicle to perform routine maintenance tasks from cabin to cabin. 3. Perform minor carpentry work such as repairing or replacing parts on a door, window, cabinet, etc. 4. performs minor plumbing duties such as fixing plugged drains, minor faucets leaks, shower heads, etc. 5. Assist with loading or unloading heavy boxes. bulky supplies and materials to and from trucks by utilizing dollies, hand-trucks or by hand. 6. Ability to operate pressure washer, steam cleaner, weed whackers, blowers and generators. 7. Performs other duties as assigned. CONTROLS OVER WORK: Supervisor provides specific instructions for new tasks, after which incumbent may independently complete duties involving several distinct tasks or steps. Supervisor may check work in progress or review results of finished work. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTORS: I. Skill and knowledge: a certain degree of manual skill is required in using necessary hand tools and in operating simple power equipment. Continual care must be exercised because of the nature of the tools and equipment used and the weight of the objects handled. 2. Continual climbing, bending, lifting and working in awkward positions. Moderate physical effort is required in lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 75 pounds. 3. Work Conditions: Work is done inside and outside with dirt, spray and fumes usually preset. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises. May occasionally be exposed to the possibility of broken bones, severe cuts and strained backs. Continuous standing, walking, stooping or lifting is required. All PPE issued must be worn/used. Qualifying Experience: Applicants must have some experience in performing simple carpentry, cleaning and painting work in which the applicant is able to use simple hand and power told such as saws, hammers, wrench, pliers, gas blower, power washer, steam cleaner, shop vacuum, mop etc. Must be able to follov,1 oral and /or written instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds and be able to occasionally lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds. Must be able to actively bend, stoop, stand, reach and work in awkward positions. Must be able to satisfactorily complete an employment physical within 60 days of appointment. Must possess a valid current driver's license. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
Education
