SENIOR BYLAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
(Permanent Full-Time)

The District of West Vancouver’s Bylaw & Licensing Services Department has openings for a permanent, full-time Senior Bylaw Enforcement Officer. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are excited to build and foster both external and internal relationships and develop and implement new programs.
Reporting to the Manager of Bylaw & Licensing Services, this position will be responsible for:
· Providing direction to Bylaw Enforcement Officers on assigned shifts
· Coordinating and overseeing investigations and assigning work
· Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement programs related to municipal bylaws
· Liaising with staff, residents, property owners, business owners, developers, contractors, and others to promote compliance
· Interpreting, investigating and processing complex complaints related to various bylaws
· Enforcing animal control bylaws, assigning aggressive animal designations and investigating complaints
· Coordinating and conducting site inspections and enforcing various regulations and bylaws
· Researching information and preparing a variety of reports, policies, correspondences, operational procedures and material
· Representing the municipality in court or adjudication hearings, and
· Performing other related duties as required
The preferred candidates will possess: considerable knowledge of municipal bylaws, regulations, policies and procedures related to the work performed; the ability to work with minimal direction and exercise sound judgement; proven public relations and communication skills to educate and deal proactively, tactfully, and firmly with the public; the ability to interpret and explain bylaws and regulations to the public and internal and external stakeholders and the ability to prepare a variety of reports and correspondences.. The ideal candidates will have exceptional communication and leadership capabilities including experience providing guidance and support to a team.
The successful candidates have completed post-secondary courses in law enforcement and have considerable related experience in investigation and enforcement work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Hours of Work: | 40 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary) |
Rate of Pay: | $38.51 per hour This position has a pay structure of five steps which increase annually. |
