POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is to provide academic support in our Lower School First grade English classes. The position will begin on August 13, 2025.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times in school
● Collaborate positively with the English teacher
● Support the teachers' pedagogical methods and the school's philosophy and values of respect, integrity, inclusion, collaboration, and curiosity
● Review the lesson plans made by the English teacher and master the goals and directions before taking charge of a group of students
● Lead the work of some student group activities including guided reading, phonics study, and writing
● Facilitate students' well-being and learning
● Communicate regularly with English teacher about student progress
● Support the English teacher in the organizational and material aspects of the class
● Attend relevant faculty training sessions applying knowledge and skills to daily work with students
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
● Proficient in the English language
● Experience working and reading with children age 6-8
● Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience
● CPR & First Aid certified or obtain certification upon hire
● Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of children alone in a classroom.
● Be aware of the needs of children aged 6-8 and have appropriate expectations
● Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry loads up to 30 lbs.
● Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences.
Salary is $25/hr
