Staff Accountant (Canada)
Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Staff Accountant position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.
Job Summary:
Working as part of the Corporate Accounting team, the Staff Accountant performs a range of tasks focused on the timely, accurate capture and reporting of basic accounting information. The position focuses on the appropriate execution of basic accounting transactions, various aspects of the month-end close and reporting process, and other accounting tasks that support the integrity and effectiveness of the accounting function.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Participates in the monthly closing of the financial statements, which includes preparation of recurring journal entries and reclassifying journal entries, basic account analysis, and account reconciliation.
2. Back up the Business Unit Controller in the reconciliation process of the general ledger accounts.
3. Preparation of work papers to support the annual external financial statement audit process.
4. Preparation of tax work papers to support the preparation of federal and state tax returns.
5. Participates in the completion and submission of miscellaneous government reports.
6. Actively looks for opportunities to create efficiencies in the closing, reporting and tax return preparation and other processes.
7. Serves as a financial resource person and explains accounting procedures necessary to fulfill accounting requirements to appropriate personnel.
8. Assists with the ERP implementation and the documentation of procedures.
9. Works on special projects as required.
10. Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed.
Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Job Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Working knowledge of personal computing applications (ex. Microsoft Office Suite) or computerized accounting systems. Technical knowledge of IFRS, ASPE or US GAAP. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external agencies to maximize performance, problem-solving, creativity and results.
PREFERRED: Master’s degree in Accounting. CPA student or candidate. Exposure to JDE, SalesForce, Sage, or Rootstock business systems
