Position Title: Registered Dental Assistant 

Department: Dental 

Reports To: Director of Primary Care/Director of Clinic Operations 

 

POSITION SUMMARY 

Tarzana Treatment Centers, Inc. (TTC) is a multi-specialty outpatient facility providing care in a comprehensive, high-quality setting. We are looking for a dedicated, motivated, enthusiastic team player who wants to make a difference in the community, working in collaboration as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team. 

The role of Registered Dental Assistant is pivotal within dental practices. As a professional who supports both patients and dentists, the dental assistant ensures smooth operation of dental procedures. While enhancing patient care and comfort. The dental assistant is responsible for setting up treatment rooms and assisting the dentist during procedures. The comprehensive job of the registered dental assistant is designed to streamline dental operations and improve patients’ outcome.


HOURS 

8:00 AM – 4:30 PM; schedule subject to change based on operational needs.  


CATEGORIES OF DUTIES 

  • Greeting patients upon arrival 
  • Maintains a daily list of all scheduled assigned dentist’s patients, monitors patient flow, and assists the dentist(s) in ensuring that all patient records and documents are properly and accurately completed and filed.  
  • Assist dentist during dental procedures in an efficient and professional manner. 
  • Prepare all necessary trays, instruments, bur blocks and endo files for dental procedures.  
  • Schedules all patients, determining time intervals according to type of work to be done and the probability of the dentist being able to treat more than one patient at a time 
  • Serves as leader in clinical efficiency by assisting the dentist chair-side using four-handed dentistry and ensuring seamless patient flow. 
  • Performs independent procedures as delegated by the dentist, such as taking alginate impressions, fabricating temporary crowns, applying dental sealants, and performing coronal polishing in accordance with state regulations, laws, and Department protocols.  
  • Take vital signs and accurate record medical history.

  • Support department leadership by assisting the dental department with oral screenings, chart preparations, interdepartmental collaboration, and eligibility coordination. 
  • Ensure the proper disposal of contaminated or potentially contaminated materials in accordance with Dental Department directives, clinic policies, and state and federal regulations. 
  • Maintains all dental department equipment in accordance with manufacture instructions and dental department policies and protocols. 
  • Give written and oral post-op instructions and oral hygiene education to patients in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Ensures adequate operation of supplies and compiles a list of shortages for inventory control and ordering purposes. 
  • Place post-extraction dressing after inspection of the surgical site by the supervising licensed dentist. 
  • Positive, can-do attitude. 
  • Experience in pediatrics a plus. 

CHAIR-SIDE DUTIES UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION 

  • Apply topical fluoride when operating in a school-based setting or public health program. 
  • Operate radiographic equipment. 
  • Perform intraoral/extraoral photography. 

 

EDUCATION 

  • High School diploma or GED certificate required. 
  • Graduation from a California Board-approved RDA educational program. 
  • RDA licensure by Dental Board of California. 
  • Completion of 2-hour CA Dental Board-approved CA Dental Practice Act course. 
  • Radiation Safety Certificate. 
  • 8-hour Infection Control course per California Dental Board guidelines. 
  • Completion of AHA-approved course in Basic Life Support/CPR. 
  • Coronal Polish certificate. 
  • Pit and fissure certificate. 
  • Bilingual: English/ Spanish is required. 

 

EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in general dentistry.
