Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Lathe Operator with expertise in setting up and operating Mazak CNC lathes (preferably with Mazatrol control systems). The ideal candidate will have experience in precision machining of complex parts, particularly in high-mix, low-volume production environments.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate Mazak CNC lathes (QT, Nexus, Integrex, or similar models).
- Interpret and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
- Load raw materials, install tooling, set offsets, and ensure proper program execution.
- Edit Mazatrol or G-code programs at the machine as necessary.
- Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other precision measuring tools.
- Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning of equipment.
- Ensure adherence to quality and safety standards throughout production.
- Troubleshoot machine errors and perform basic diagnostics.
- Maintain accurate production records and logs.
Required Qualifications:
- 2–5+ years of hands-on experience operating Mazak CNC lathes
- Strong understanding of Mazatrol conversational programming and/or G-code
- Experience with part setup, tool setting, and fixture installation
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and work instructions
- Knowledge of cutting speeds, feeds, and tooling selection
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and QC procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with multi-axis or live-tooling Mazak machines
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 environments
- Forklift certification or experience handling raw material
- Previous experience with SPC tracking or ERP job reporting
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Standing, bending, and working on your feet for 8–10 hours
- Exposure to noise, coolant, and machine shop environment
