Establish and maintain compliance protocols for grant accounting and requirements
Coordinate with Executive Specialists in OTLT, Finance, and Buildings appropriate allocation of grant funds
Oversee the distribution and collection of semi-annual certifications and personal activity records
Maintain spreadsheets for various funds in the District including Activity Fund, Sinking Fund, and Capital Projects
In-depth knowledge of Michigan Public School Accounting Manual and how to properly code revenues and expenses
Prepare work papers for audits and final expenditure reports for grants
Assist in the preparation of Requests for Proposals inclusive of the bidding process and proper posting for various departments
Submit property casualty insurance reports as needed to appropriate entities
Serve as the subject matter expert on district grants, providing guidance and support to
administrators.
Ensure grant obligations are met and records are maintained.
Maintain and update workflow platform, currently Frevvo
Manages multiple projects with ease and accuracy, meeting short and long-term deadlines.
Works in a collaborative fashion with building principals, staff, and other District departments.
Demonstrates the ability to work without direct supervision.
To have a thorough knowledge of local, state, federal, and other rules, regulations, guidelines, and legislation applicable to the programs.
To have a thorough knowledge of the policies of the Bay City Board of Education.
Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Finance role, preferably within an educational setting.
Strong understanding of finance and grant practices, policies, and state employment laws.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Google Sheets, Workflow Platform (Frevvo), Finance Platforms (Qmlativ) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Highest level of confidentiality and ethical standards.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

*Summer hours will be Monday through Thursday and the hours work will vary depending on selection of hours.
SUMARY: The Finance Generalist will be responsible for a wide range of Finance activities,from grant reconciliation and compliance to request for proposal assistance. This role requires a detail-oriented and organized individual who can effectively manage multiple tasks and provide support across various Finance functions.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before parents, staff, students, and the community. Demonstrated ability to use both oral and written English appropriately and effectively, demonstrated effective phone etiquette.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic math computations including rates, ratio, and percentages using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Demonstrate a high degree of math proficiency and the ability to perform projections for budgeting purposes.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Demonstrated ability to use good judgment in decision-making.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to successfully pass basic competency, computer skills testing assessments and ability to successfully pass a typing test at 30 words per minute with a high degree of accuracy. Demonstrated ability to proficiently operate a personal and mainframe computer and related software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, etc.) Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to maintain a calm demeanor and remain professional in stressful situations. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties through knowledge of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to prioritize work and organize work; with delegating as appropriate. Demonstrated ability to deal with confidential information with a high degree of discretion and loyalty. Ability to multi-task with numerous interruptions.
