About the Department
Harnett County Department of Social Services is currently recruiting for a Community Social Services Assistant for Children's Services. This employee will assist foster children and/or their families with transportations to and from needed services and schedule appointments as the agency works with them toward their permanent placement goal. The employee’s objective will be to assure services are obtained and proper supervision for the foster child is maintained while with the natural parents.
Hiring Range: $28,753.00
Position Duties
Employee will facilitate visits between foster children and their biological family to include transporting the children to and from the visits. Employee will supervise the visits, paying particular attention to the interaction between the child and his parents. The emailed with maintain written narrative of the visits to share with the social worker assigned to the care. Court testimony may be required of the employee regarding the interaction between the parent and child at visits, as well as the reactions of the child before and after visits.
The employee will help arrange and secure medical care and psychological counselling for foster children. Will maintain narrative regarding appointments and information gathered. Will coordinate with the social worker and foster parents of the child to ensure continuity of medical care the children in agency’s custody.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School or General Education Development Diploma (GED) and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least one year of experience in performing tasks similar to the ones assigned.
Preference:
Bilingual, Spanish and English
Licensing and Certifications:
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.
Other Qualifications
Successful completion of a drug screening and criminal background check will be required as a condition of employment.
