A little about the position:
Job Summary
Ensure the successful production activities of the Steel department. Manage a team of employees involved in the daily production of steel parts, and work to achieve the KPI’s for the department. Support a strong employee culture through the reinforcement of Latham’s Core Values.
Some of What You Will Do:
- Manage a team to ensure excellent efficiency, quality and safety results
- Follow company safety policies and programs to promote a safety-first culture throughout the facility.
- Maintain high level of quality throughout the manufacturing process.
- Utilize lean manufacturing principles to identify efficiency opportunities and evaluate processes to achieve continuous improvement.
- Evaluate performance of staff, planning training and development as needed.
- Responsible for production, meeting daily schedule to ensure on time delivery.
- Submit reports on performance and progress to direct manager.
- Communicate job expectations, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
- Facilitate daily shift meetings.
- Other duties as assigned
What You Bring to the Table: (Qualifications)
- Management or Technical college degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing/engineering related function
- Previous experience working in a Steel production environment.
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office, ERP, ADP)
- Ability to read blueprints
- Must be able to work overtime when necessary, including extended hours or weekends
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
- Lean Manufacturing or 5S experience desired
- Exceptional understanding of safety, quality, productivity, inventory, employee relations
