Who We Are
At Lauren Services, we’re a team of engineers who genuinely enjoy building smart, safe, and efficient solutions for industrial clients. We support full EPCM delivery — from early studies to commissioning and beyond.
We work on various projects across Western Canada and have built long-term partnerships by staying flexible, reliable, and solution-focused.
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Instrumentation Engineer who’s confident leading projects, mentoring junior engineers and EITs, and ready to stamp high-quality work. This role reports to our EI&C Manager and can be based out of either Calgary or Vancouver, with a hybrid work schedule that gives you flexibility.
If you enjoy solving problems, mentoring the next generation, and being hands-on with design, we think you’ll feel right at home with us.
What You'll Be Doing
- Reviewing and stamping instrumentation deliverables
- Guiding and mentoring EITs and junior engineers — reviewing their work, answering questions, and helping them grow
- Designing instrumentation systems for brownfield and greenfield projects
- Specifying control valves, transmitters, flow meters, and analyzers — and ensuring they’re fit for the process
- Reviewing vendor packages and preparing technical bid evaluations
- Developing loop drawings, instrument data sheets, control narratives, and P&IDs
- Working closely with construction and commissioning teams to make sure things go smoothly in the field
- Juggling a few projects at once and collaborating with a cross-disciplinary team
What We're Looking For
- 12–16 years of engineering experience (ideally in EPCM or industrial settings like oil & gas, mining, or utilities)
- A degree in Instrumentation Engineering (or Electrical with a relevant instrumentation focus)
- P.Eng. designation in Alberta or BC
- Experience leading small teams or mentoring junior staff
- Comfortable stamping drawings and reports
- Working knowledge of instrumentation codes and standards (ISA, CSA, CEC, API, etc.)
- Proficiency with Excel and instrument sizing tools (Smart Plant/Intools experience is a plus)
- Familiar with PLC/DCS/SCADA systems and industrial networking basics
- A great communicator who enjoys teamwork and can coordinate across disciplines
What It’s Like to Work Here
We’re a mid-sized team where your work is seen and appreciated. You’ll have real ownership of your projects, the chance to mentor, and the support of experienced leads.
We offer a flexible team culture and a focus on professional development. We work hard, but we also support work-life balance.
