Senior Financial Analyst (Finance)

Position Type:    Full Time

                              Exempt

                              Hybrid Scheduled (2 to 3 Days On site Per Week)

Location:             LA

Salary Range:     $110,000.00 - $135,000.00*

The Senior Financial Analyst (Finance)  develops, manages and supports several of the Financial Services team’s most significant recurring processes, including (a) the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets, (b) the production of monthly financial management reports, (c) the preparation of the monthly financial statement package, (d) the gathering and compiling of data for periodic review cycles, (e) the preparation of annual partner compensation data and reports, and (f) the completion of quarterly, semi-annual and annual benchmarking surveys.  The Senior Financial Analyst (Finance) manages data and reporting initiatives; develops, maintains and improves systems and processes; and responds to requests for information.  The Senior Financial Analyst (Finance) is proficient in the Firm’s accounting software (3E) and is the subject matter expert on its budgeting, financial statement, and reporting software (Xcelerate).  The Senior Financial Analyst (Finance) is responsible for producing accurate reports and drawing conclusions from analyses in order to clearly discuss those conclusions both in person and in writing to support decision-making.

Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Chiefs and department Directors to prepare annual budgets and conduct regular budget reviews, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with departmental needs.
  • Acts in the capacity of subject matter expert on financial reporting systems and provides support to department leaders to ensure understanding of their budgets and financial reports.
  • Proactively identify and provide ad hoc financial summaries and analyses to department leaders to solve significant business problems and support department operations and projects.
  • Conducts monthly GL account reviews and tracks significant variances; collaborates with Controller on analyzing budget-to-actual variances and assisting in the JE reclassification process.
  • Lead the effort in developing and transitioning recurring reports to dashboard environments and process efficiencies.
  • Assist in the development of cube-based reporting.
  • Assist in preparing the annual revenue budget.
  • Prepare financial management reports, including monthly financial statement package.
  • Analyze key performance measures; discuss findings and observations.
  • Lead the effort to identify necessary updates to existing financial management reports and develop new reports as needed.
  • Gather data and prepare reports in connection with review and compensation cycle.
  • Prepare responses to benchmarking, census and other industry surveys.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analyze client/firm statistics/metrics and propose recommendations based on analysis.
  • Complete special projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years FP&A/accounting/analytical experience in a law firm environment
  • Proficient with 3E
  • Expert knowledge of MS Excel and spreadsheet design including proficiency with pivot tables
  • Highly skilled in leveraging financial software and related technology to develop solutions
  • Must effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, have excellent attention to detail, and work well under pressure
  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills
  • Ability to strategize, multi-task and prioritize
  • Exemplary customer service mindset
  • Highly motivated and maintains an ownership mentality
  • Enjoy a team-oriented atmosphere with a commitment to proactive communication
