About Monet Bank
Monet Bank is pioneering the future of banking and money movement—faster, cheaper, and crypto-native. The passage of the Genius Act has enabled a future we want to explore where interchange fees and inefficient payment rails may be replaced with a modern, programmable alternative powered by stablecoins.
At our core, we believe Monet Bank is the essential bridge between crypto and traditional finance (TradFi).
As a profitable, well-capitalized Texas state, FDIC-insured bank, Monet sees the fundamental inefficiency of the 2-3% card network payments and seeks to build a strong team to understand and pursue the future of money and banking.
See our open positions below if you want to work on the new frontier of banking projects like a stablecoin-based payment that would empower merchants to reclaim margins, Fintechs to operate cross-border at scale, and tech giants to embed crypto into their platforms without friction.
Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced IT Security Operations Manager to join our Information Technology department. This position is pivotal in safeguarding our organization's critical assets, sensitive data, and trusted reputation in an increasingly complex threat landscape. The IT Security Operations Manager will sit at the intersection of cybersecurity, risk management, and team coordination, leading the development and execution of our firm's comprehensive cybersecurity strategies. This is not merely a technical management role; it is a strategic leadership position that requires a forward-thinking mindset to balance robust security needs with core business objectives, ensuring that security protocols empower, rather than impede, organizational productivity and growth. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping a resilient and proactive security posture that protects our company and maintains a secure work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of cybersecurity professionals, including analysts, engineers, and incident responders, fostering their technical skill development and career growth. Cultivate a culture of security awareness and continuous learning across the organization through targeted training programs and communication initiatives. Manage team schedules, on-call rotations, and incident escalation procedures to ensure 24/7 operational readiness and effective response capabilities. Own all aspects of employee management for the security operations team, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and professional development planning.
- Threat Intelligence & Proactive Defense: Develop and manage a proactive threat intelligence program by interpreting signals from diverse sources, including cyber threat feeds, internal system logs, and global security trends, to anticipate and mitigate risks. Oversee the enterprise vulnerability management program, ensuring the regular execution of security assessments, penetration tests, and the timely, risk-prioritized remediation of identified vulnerabilities. Drive proactive monitoring and reporting for endpoint and system health, establishing and tracking key performance metrics to ensure high levels of compliance with patching and security control standards. Continuously stay abreast of the latest cyber threats, attack vectors, and security innovations to proactively adapt strategies and enhance the organization's defensive posture against emerging risks.
- Security Operations & Incident Response: Provide comprehensive management of the Security Operations Center (SOC), overseeing its people, processes, and technology capabilities to protect the company's digital assets. Lead the organization's swift and effective response to all security incidents, guiding the team through detection, analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery to minimize business impact and operational disruption. Develop, maintain, and regularly test the organization's incident response plans, crisis management protocols, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure preparedness for any eventuality. Manage the full lifecycle of the security technology stack, including the administration and optimization of tools such as Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), and data encryption solutions.
- Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC): Develop, implement, and enforce enterprise-wide security policies, procedures, and standards that are aligned with business objectives and industry best practices. Ensure, maintain, and audit the organization's compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. Conduct regular, comprehensive risk assessments to identify security gaps and vulnerabilities, analyze their potential business impact, and develop and implement appropriate mitigation strategies. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, Legal, Human Resources, and internal/external auditors, to ensure the seamless integration of security requirements into all business processes and projects.
- Strategic Planning & Stakeholder Management: Set the strategic vision and develop a multi-year roadmap for the Security Operations function, ensuring the maturation of technology and processes is aligned with enterprise-wide goals. Manage relationships with third-party security vendors and service providers, overseeing contracts, negotiating service level agreements (SLAs), and ensuring high performance and value. Act as the primary liaison with external stakeholders, such as law enforcement agencies, forensic investigators, and emergency responders, during major security incidents. Develop and manage the security operations budget, ensuring the efficient and effective allocation of financial resources to address the highest-priority risks. Provide clear, concise, and timely reporting on the organization's security posture, incident trends, and risk landscape to senior management and executive leadership.
Qualifications (Education, Computer Skills, Certifications, etc.):
- Experience: A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in the cybersecurity field, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management capacity directly overseeing a security operations team, SOC, or equivalent function.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree, as we value demonstrated skills and competencies.
- Incident Response: Proven, hands-on experience leading the response to significant cybersecurity incidents, demonstrating strong crisis management skills and the ability to maintain composure under pressure.
- Technical Foundations: A deep and robust understanding of core security principles, practices, and technologies, including network security, SIEM platforms, threat intelligence analysis, vulnerability management, and Identity and Access Management (IAM).
- Leadership & Communication: Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team of technical experts. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required, including the ability to articulate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences, from junior analysts to executive leadership.
If you are looking to be a part of a winning team and meet the above requirements, we look forward to hearing from you.
