Description
Access Services is seeking an Employment Specialist to join the Employment Services program! The ideal candidate is a caring and supportive individual who wants their work to make an impact in the community. The role of an Employment Specialist is to assist individuals with disabilities in finding competitive employment. This may include completing assessments, assisting with resume writing, practicing interview skills, filling out applications and accompanying them on an interview. Once an individual participating in our program becomes employed, the role of the Employment Specialist is to help them learn the skills of their new job and provide continuing services as needed to maintain their employment.
Work Schedule and Location:
- As an Employment Specialist, you will work 35-40 hours/week generally during regular business hours. Flexibility is required, as some nights and weekends as needed due to program needs.
- This role requires driving regularly between cases. We offer mileage reimbursement and paid travel time between worksites.
- The role is based in the Delaware Valley Region, with cases primarily in the North Wales and Lansdale area. Possible travel to Norristown, Blue Bell, Doylestown, and Chalfont depending on case needs.
Essential Functions
- Support the safety, well-being, and personal development of individuals receiving services.
- Provide guidance, instruction, and on-the-job support to help individuals achieve employment goals.
- Assist with program coordination, including scheduling and service planning.
- Collaborate with internal teams, families, employers, and community partners.
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized employment plans.
- Help individuals identify, obtain, and maintain competitive employment in the community.
- Complete required documentation, reports, and records accurately and timely.
- Maintain reliable attendance and flexibility to meet program needs.
Requirements
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
Certification: A Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) OR, satisfactory completion of a forty hour training to earn the Basic Employment Services Certificate of Achievement through the Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators is required within six (6) months of hire. Trainings and certifications are provided by Access Services.
Experience: Experience in public relations, human services, rehabilitation, human resources, employment, counseling, education, or related field required.
Driving Requirements: This position requires regular driving during the workday to support individuals in the community, attend offsite meetings, and provide service oversight.
To be eligible, candidates must:
- Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license
- Have reliable access to a personal vehicle
- Maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with Access Services’ Motor Vehicle Policy
- Be willing and able to drive as part of regular job duties
- Successfully pass all motor vehicle record checks
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of effective training and support strategies for individuals with disabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage responsibilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team and build positive working relationships.
- Capability to safely support and assist individuals with physical disabilities as needed.
- Comfort using workplace technology and the ability to learn new software and systems quickly.
- Basic technical skills, including use of standard office applications, communication tools, and mobile devices.

The full-time position starts at $18/hour with increases based on education and experience.

Essential Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Work in program sites and the community routinely providing direct care and/or support with individual(s). Stand, sit or run by self, or to provide proper care and supervision with an individual. Able to move and stay with an individual to keep them safe, both in home environment and community, both at near and far distances, even when an individual may struggle to meet identified expectations. Able to assist an individual who has fallen, regardless of weight or size. Walk, climb stairs by self, or to provide direct care and/or support. Work in a standard office environment. Utilize desktop computer equipment on a daily basis. Able to lift or move items associated with sedentary work and light work (exert up to 20 lbs.) Travel to offsite locations and regional office locations if necessary.
