The purpose of this position is to care for and maintain headquarters facilities and support resiliency and events to create a place where the Spirit may reside and the work of salvation and exaltation can be accomplished. This position supervises  a group consisting of 3-5 teams and approximately 30-50 employees including team leads and custodians. Oversee custodial operations for assigned facilities and/or areas of specialty. 

 

Position Overview: Custodial Supervisor – Custodial Services

This hands-on role supports the Custodial Services Department by supervising a group consisting of 3-5 teams and approximately 30-50 employees including team leads and custodians. Oversee custodial operations for assigned facilities and/or areas of specialty. 

Shift Information – 

  • Exempt position. Hours will typically be 5:00 PM - 1:30 AM
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday  Must be flexible as needed—some weekend, event and holiday work is required.
  • Location: Joseph Smith Memorial Building and other buildings as assigned.
  • This is a Full-time Benefitted Position
  • Compensation: Based on experience and education.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and mentor lower level leadership including team leads in assigned group.
  • Oversee all custodial operations in assigned facilities and/or areas of specialty
  • Oversee personnel issues involving performance management, policy enforcement, employee correction, and associated communications
  • Coordinate with Custodial Management and Human Resources in managing workforce needs involving FMLA, ADA, Workers Comp, investigations, terminations, etc.
  • Manage schedules and payroll for all employees within assigned group
  • Plan and conduct various meetings, councils, and trainings
  • Oversee employee evaluations, facility inspections, and ensure quality services/results of group
  • Oversee major safety incidents/emergency response and connected investigations for assigned areas/group
  • Oversee employee safety and ensure compliance with internal and external policies and regulations
  • Attend and actively participate in leadership councils involving other supervisors and managers
  • Oversee committees and/or teams as assigned, including event support, safety, workload audits/reviews, product testing/evaluation, purchasing, etc.
  • Ensure all personnel within assigned group receive proper training and/or certifications associated with operation of equipment, proper use/disposal of chemicals, and/or use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Procure products and supplies (as assigned)
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Performs work with little to no supervision

Performs self-directed work while handling diverse issues of a complex nature

Qualifications

Requires:

  • 6 years' related custodial or facility operations experience
  • 2+ years supervisory experience
  • Certification through the Cleaning Management Institute with the International Sanitary Supply Association within the first 6 months in role.
  • Proficient knowledge of custodial and/or maintenance procedures and best practices
  • Demonstrated experience with conflict resolution and difficult conversations
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of custodial operations, HR policies, and safety policies, laws, and regulations
  • Ability to effectively communicate, lead, and train others both orally and in writing in all required subject matters
  • Current driver's license
  • Intermediate ability with Microsoft Office products as well as ability to learn other role specific computer programs

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Vocational/Trade School preferred
  • Purchasing and vendor relations experience preferred
