Aurora wouldn’t be an industry leader in providing energy market forecasts, analysis, insights, and consultancy without our successful commercial team. We are seeking a Commercial Associate to build strong relationships with major Financial Institutions which are active in the energy sector and sell our products and services which support the transition towards a more sustainable economy. You will work in a dynamic multi-national team responsible for account management as well as sales activities for Auroras subscription analytics and our software products. You will play a key role in all aspects of client interactions and business development. The role will focus on creating and developing partnerships as well as sales opportunities, initially with customers active in Europe incl. GB and Ireland.

The successful candidate will combine a strong commercial mindset, great communication and relationship management skills, passion to develop new business, high eagerness to learn, and interest in energy markets. You will work in a dynamic, stimulating, demanding and collaborative environment. 

You will join our European commercial team, which is expected to grow and offer potential for progression, including through international expansion and creating new data and software-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Business Development and Account Management activities for major global financial institutions active in Iberia and Latin America.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the needs and the internal and external challenges of major banks and financial advisors through active account management.
  • Generate and process new business leads, reacting quickly to market changes and emerging opportunities.
  • Qualify, develop, and maintain sales opportunities through research, product knowledge, and a clear understanding of client needs.
  • Guide new clients through the onboarding process, ensuring a smooth transition and setup.
  • Schedule onboarding workshops and ensure detailed handovers to Account Management teams, including use cases, key contacts, and growth opportunities.
  • Negotiate and contract structured offers.
  • Maintain regular contact with multiple stakeholders and build a strong network within Aurora’s key clients and partners.
  • Track the milestones and strategic activities of your accounts, foresee and foster upcoming opportunities, and develop plans to increase account value through cross-selling Aurora’s full range of services.
  • Take responsibility for supporting your accounts throughout financial transactions where Aurora’s forecasts are bankable, and track your success.
  • Pitch Aurora’s offerings and prepare tailored proposals for potential add existing customers.
  • Use Salesforce CRM to ensure standard processes are followed across all sales stages and to closely monitor your pipeline.
  • Represent Aurora with a comprehensive understanding of our offerings in client and group meetings, as well as at national and international fairs and events.
  • Contribute to the development of new products and the improvement of existing offerings. Strengthen internal processes and take ownership of internal improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Develop new marketing materials as needed.

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen with a creative and intuitive approach to identifying impactful opportunities.
  • Ability to build a senior-level network among major financial institutions in the European energy sector.
  • Calm, adaptable, and effective in high-pressure and uncertain situations.
  • Highly organised, persistent, and diligent.
  • Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Motivated by achieving tangible individual and team commercial targets.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to help wherever needed (e.g., improving internal systems and processes).
  • Excellent organisational and coordination skills, with a high degree of dedication and persistence.
  • Strong commercial mindset with a proven track record in sales and account management.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and cope effectively with uncertainty.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, combined with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven record of strong performance in team-oriented environments.
  • Enthusiasm and curiosity about the energy transition and energy finance.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required; proficiency in Portuguese and/or additional European languages is a strong asset.
Desirable attributes:
  • Experience in sales, business development, and client relationship management, ideally in energy-related subscription sales.
  • Proven track record of managing a client portfolio.
  • Understanding of due diligence, business development, and project management within transactions and energy project financing.
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems.
  • Prior professional exposure to energy economics, power markets, or power networks.
