About the role:

We are looking for a graduate level Research Engineer to join our Engineering Innovation team and support research initiatives and develop technical expertise on advanced engineering projects. This position will play a key role in analysing and enhancing the design of our DC cooling systems to ensure our designs continue to meet the highest standards of efficiency and performance. The incumbent will work closely with experienced research and innovation engineers and be given the opportunity to expand on their existing understanding of Fluid Dynamics.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate across Engineering, Operations, and ICT groups to ensure delivery and operations of optimised data center solutions. 
  • Conduct research analysis, performing detailed research and analysis to support data centre design initiatives, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. 
  • Collaborate on innovative solutions working closely with team members to develop and implement innovative solutions based on analytical findings. 
  • Report writing preparing comprehensive internal reports summarising research findings and recommendations. 
  • Use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software (Cadence DC Pro) to simulate fluid flow and thermal performance in data centre environments. 
  • Analyse simulation results to identify opportunities for design enhancements and improvements. 
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies related to cooling systems in data centre design to ensure cutting-edge solutions. 
  • Lead, attend and contribute to appropriate team and stakeholder meetings and committees as required and relevant to ensure excellent stakeholder engagement and communication. 

About you:

  • Tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering, preferably a Thesis in Fluid Dynamics or Thermal Dynamics
  • Research oriented mindset and strong analytical skills with an ability to interpret complex data. 
  • Display key personal qualities including the ability to work remotely and work collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Ansys, Cadence DC Pro or similar CFD Software
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Essential:

  • Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
