About Petra Funds Group

Petra Funds Group is a single-source provider for the fund administration and fund infrastructure needs of Private Equity and Debt Funds. At Petra, we enable fund managers to focus on the tasks that add the most value to their businesses.

Our foundation is built on trust, experience, and uncompromising accuracy. Our people are experts. We work collaboratively. We are relentless in our process and put attention to detail first.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Fund Accounting Manager to join our growing team supporting a confidential global investment platform. This role is ideal for a strong fund accounting professional with private markets experience — particularly in fund-of-funds, private equity, or alternative investment structures — who thrives in a fast-paced, client-centric environment.

The Fund Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting operations for a portfolio of private investment vehicles, manage a small team of accountants, and serve as a key liaison between Petra, our client, and third-party service providers.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee the full fund accounting cycle for assigned vehicles, including capital calls, distributions, management fees, allocations, and NAV reporting.

  • Review work prepared by staff accountants, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to GAAP and partnership agreements.

  • Manage quarterly and annual financial reporting processes, including audit coordination and investor reporting.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, auditors, fund administrators, and internal teams.

  • Support process improvements, automation initiatives, and best practices to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Assist with onboarding of new funds and structures as the client’s platform expands.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 6–10 years of relevant fund accounting experience within private equity, fund-of-funds, or related alternative investment structures.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, partnership accounting, and capital activity flows.

  • Experience managing or reviewing work of junior accounting staff.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • CPA qualification (or progress toward).

  • Experience with fund administration or managed services environments.

  • Familiarity with waterfall calculations, investor allocations, and performance metrics (IRR, DPI, TVPI).

  • Comfort working in a dynamic environment supporting institutional clients and high-growth investment platforms.

Salary Range
At Petra Funds Group, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring practices. The compensation range for this position is $102,000 - $153,000 per year. This range represents the base salary only. Actual pay will depend on factors such as qualifications, experience, and skills.
