POSITION SUMMARY
(Eligible for Hybrid/ 3 days in office - Alexandria, VA)
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring it is secure, scalable, and reliable. You will work on network systems, server management, cloud environments, and storage solutions, providing support and optimization to enable business operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION
- Infrastructure Design & Implementation: Plan, design, and implement IT infrastructure solutions, including networking, servers, storage, virtualization, and cloud technologies, to meet business needs and objectives.
- Server Management & Maintenance: Administer and maintain physical and virtual servers (Windows, Linux, etc.) ensuring uptime, performance, and security. Manage updates, patches, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
- Network Management: Configure and maintain network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems. Monitor and troubleshoot network issues to ensure seamless connectivity and performance.
- Microsoft 365 Management: Administer and support the full suite of Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, Defender and conditional access.); Manage user accounts, licenses, and security groups via Microsoft 365 Admin Center and PowerShell.
- Security & Compliance: Implement security policies and controls to protect systems and data, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption. Work closely with the security team to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitoring & Optimization: Continuously monitor the performance of IT systems and infrastructure, identifying areas for improvement and optimization. Proactively address any system bottlenecks or performance issues.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise for infrastructure-related issues. Resolve complex technical issues related to hardware, software, and network infrastructure in a timely manner.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: Ensure the reliability and availability of data by managing backup processes, implementing disaster recovery strategies, and conducting periodic recovery drills.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure configurations, network diagrams, and troubleshooting guides. Keep records of system performance, incidents, and resolutions.
- Collaboration & Training: Collaborate with other IT teams (e.g., help desk, software development, security) to ensure infrastructure aligns with organizational needs. Assist in training junior staff and providing guidance on infrastructure best practices.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 8 years of relevant and progressive technical experience.
- Proven experience working with IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networks, and cloud solutions.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
- Familiarity with networking protocols and devices, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Experience with IT security practices, including firewall configuration, intrusion detection/prevention, and encryption.
- Proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation and infrastructure management.
- Knowledge of backup systems and disaster recovery solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management processes is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, or similar.
- Experience with Cisco Meraki
- Experience with Data Center technology such as Power and AC

SALARY STATEMENT
The budgeted salary range for this position is currently $109,600 to $116,000 per year. Salary is determined by several factors including applicant’s knowledge, skills, experience, position, equity, and market.
