Design Engineer en LEE AEROSPACE INC

Description

Position Summary:           

• Design parts, tooling, and associated engineering drawings to support production and development programs. Provide Engineering support to Manufacturing and Quality for production programs. Interface with suppliers on new product development.

 

Education:

 

 

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Preferred Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Degree, or Technical Trade Schooling

 

 

 

Experience:

 

 

 

• Minimum of 2 years Design and Drafting using Computer Aided Design software

 

 

 

 

 

Technical Skills:

• Computer Aided Design – Preferred CATIA V4-6 and Unigraphics. 3-D modeling, surfacing, and drafting required.
• Computer Skills -  Preferred Microsoft windows program
• Ability to read close tolerance measuring devices
• Ability to read and understand existing engineering drawings
• Mechanical aptitude preferred
• Troubleshooting production processes in regard to tool design and use
• Skill and expertise to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data, summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources
• Decision making

• Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment as needed

Work Environment / Essential Physical Functions:

 

• The work environment shall include office areas, manufacturing plant areas (conditioned and unconditioned), outside during any season, and may include travel.
• Noise and particulate exposure in select manufacturing areas, eye and ear protection required respectively
• Ability to sit and/or stand  10 hours a day
• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and reach above head
• Ability to climb step stool and/or enter confined work spaces for evaluation of manufacturing processes

 

 

 

Language Skills:

 

 

 

 

• Ability to understand and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to clearly communicate verbally and written using the English language.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Duties and Tasks:

 

 

 

 

 

• Design parts for aircraft using 3-D CAD software
• Design tooling for aircraft parts using 3-D software
• Create engineering drawings using 3-D CAD software
• Review existing drawings and make determination for required revision
• Review, interpret, and incorporation engineering processes into the design
• Support Engineering liaison support to Manufacturing and Quality groups
• Interact and convey necessary technical design information with suppliers
• Support Marketing with new production development
• Seek guidance and training as necessary for performance duties
• Keep the supervisor/manager informed about the status or work being performed and about problems or potential problems as early as possible
• Report to work on time each day, after lunch, and working entire shift
• Maintain the work area in a neat and orderly manner
• Maintain a well-groomed appearance appropriate for the position
• Respect the confidentiality of the Lee Aerospace, customers, and co-worker personnel information
• Performing other duties and tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor, e.g. machining, and/or assembly, and assisting others as needed
• Assist and train fellow employees as needed
