Job Description
Basic Function and Overview:
The shift supervisor position will be a salaried rotating shift supervisor position. He/she is expected to improve work force productivity and work quality through the training of new and existing operators while also filling in for production employees during times of being short. This person will have a rotating day/night schedule with his/her crew.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with your crew to identify operators who need refresher training (required for some PSM operations) and identify future operators who need some training before filling a open role with the plant.
- As required, work with your crew to fill vacancies created from employee shortages or vacations that coverage can not be found.
- Work with Production and/or Maintenance Supervision to understand areas in plant that improvements can be made to improve safety of all employees.
- Assist in supervising work in the field. Be able to fill in for operators as needed
- Openly welcome constructive feedback from the operators and take action upon the recommendations as appropriate in a timely manner.
- Understands their role in food safety and quality systems, actively participates in food safety efforts and ensures all activities conform to good manufacturing practices
- Ability to self-manage in the performance of duties.
- Ability to assess and assign appropriate skill level to tasks so as to provide safest and effective way to get the task completed.

- Help supervisor employees to make sure daily tasks are performed in the safest and most productive method
- Ensure that all operators are up to date on training required and have the “in field” knowledge to perform their job duties.
- Improve efficiencies in all production areas from loadout to operations
- Make sure job procedures are reviewed as appropriate and updated to reflect current safety protocols.
- Working knowledge of all areas of the plant operations
- Use of safety measures and the understanding of OSHA regulations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated proficient use of various computer programs.
- Experience with working as part of a team to accomplish a common goal.
- Accurate and acute written and oral communications skills
- Ability to coach and mentor peers, and to share among peers newly found or developed skills, techniques and improvements.
