The Assistant Site Manager is a critical member of the Jerri Hoffmann Child & Family Center (Brightpoint Child & Family Center) team, providing supervision and coaching to teachers in our 3-5 classrooms. Candidate qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor's in a similar field with at least 30 credits of early childhood coursework with a Level 5 Early Childhood Education Credential.
- A minimum of four years’ early childhood education experience (additionally, supervisory experience in an early childhood setting highly desirable).
- Provide training, coaching, and reflective supervision to early childhood classroom teaching staff, including Teachers and Lead Teachers.
- Be an active collaborator on the Head Start and Preschool for All education teams, working closely with other program staff and leaders.
- Develop relationships with parents and families and encourage their involvement in the Head Start and Preschool for All education programs.
- Provide leadership and guidance to classroom staff in the development, writing, and implementation of daily lesson plans and classroom routings and transitions; meet weekly with classroom and other staff to review lesson plans and teaching strategies and discuss child progress.
- Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish preferred.
- Ability to drive and access to a personal vehicle required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains current knowledge of Center’s operation, philosophy, and goals and how the Center interrelates with the region and the organization.
- Assumes responsibility for operation of the program in the absence of the Site Manager.
- Supervises, manages workload, and monitors performance of assigned Lead Teachers,
- Teachers, Classroom Support Aides, and other staff as assigned. This includes hiring and training staff, Implementing the organization’s personnel policies and practices, approval of timecards, performance appraisals, performance improvement plans, leaves, promotions, salary changes, terminations, and documentation of all personnel actions.
- Provides coaching and support to teaching staff; models classroom teaching techniques and provides support on effective teaching and behavior management strategies to staff.
- Identifies areas of need for professional development training for staff.
- Assists teachers in completing lesson plans and observations and understanding child outcome data.
- Trains, provides reflective supervision, and evaluates student interns, as assigned.
- Ensures program is in compliance with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Head Start, Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), city, and state regulations and requirements at all times.
- Ensures staff compliance with data entry requirements and timelines.
- Assists Site Manager with oversight of billing procedures, payment collection, and preparation of monthly billing.
- Represents the program’s goals and objectives to parents and community and community groups.
- Orients newly hired staff and serves as a resource person
Job details:
- Compensation: Salary: Range is between $63k - $68k per year, offers are commensurate with experience and bilingual candidates may receive additional compensation. The salary range provided represents our current estimate for this role at the time of posting and is subject to change. The final salary will be determined based on a range of factors, including but not limited to, a candidate's relevant experience, education, qualifications, skills, certifications, and alignment with organizational needs. - Schedule: Full-time, salaried; center hours are 7:30a-5:30p M-F.
