Job Overview:
The Senior Developer will be responsible for working in the development team to build high quality applications/services for the firm. They should have experience developing backend services and APIs with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring JPA, gRPC, and Docker containers. The developer should be able to work independently as well as part of a larger team comprised of multiple disciplines.
Responsibilities:
Participates in code reviews and sprint ceremonies
Implements feature requests, produces testable solutions meeting business and functional requirements, and ensures that all solutions are properly tested and validated
Accountable for service level objectives defined for their own work
Collaborates with other designers and engineers on the team(s) to ensure that technical designs and implementations are consistent across the product(s), platform(s), and solution(s); communicates effectively with other designers and engineers to exchange information and ideas about software architecture, engineering best practices, and the like
Responds to user support issues and requests for assistance; assists users with navigating the application(s) and resolving basic problems with data entry, uploading files, navigation, printing, and the like
Communicates regularly with stakeholders and end-users to understand their needs and ensure those needs are addressed through timely delivery of new features and resolution of reported defects
Establishes and maintains ongoing relationships with customers
Understands the markets and products that the company serves, as well as the competitive landscape
Creates operating mechanisms to ensure all voices are heard within the project team; commits to team decisions once made
Identifies opportunities to streamline processes and import best practices; articulates and advocates for needed changes in processes, policies, and tools

Requirements:
• 6+ years of experience building scalable web applications
• 6+ years of experience building backend services and APIs with Java, Spring Boot, REST API, gRPC, and Docker containers
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
• Strong computer science skills and experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to learn quickly and independently
Preferences:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred
