Job Description

United States Steel Corporation is seeking an EAF Melter for its Fairfield Tubular Steel Operations. The role is responsible for overseeing every aspect of the electric arc furnace melting process to transform scrap metal and additives into high-quality molten steel that meets customer specifications. The Melter ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality production by monitoring furnace parameters, performing routine maintenance, and collaborating with production teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.
  • Operate electric arc furnace following prescribed methods, procedures and sequences of operation to production specifications.
  • Monitor furnace operations including temperature, power levels, and material input.
  • Adjust controls to maintain optimal performance and product quality.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on furnace equipment.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of production data, including material usage and efficiency metrics.
  • Assist in training new operators and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • At least one year related work experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience working in a union environment is preferred.
