About the Role

We are looking for a Casual Dispensary Associate to join our Burnaby team. This role supports the day-to-day operations of our on-site dispensary, working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.

Position Summary

The Dispensary Associate plays a key role in supporting fertility treatment protocols by ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant preparation and dispensation of medications. This role includes maintaining inventory, ensuring safety, and upholding patient confidentiality in accordance with BC regulatory requirements. Working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, the Dispensary Associate contributes directly to exceptional patient care and the smooth operation of our clinic’s dispensary.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Dispense medications per the physician's prescriptions and treatment protocols

  • Verify prescriptions against patient records and established protocols

  • Use PharmaNet for documentation and tracking as mandated by the BC Ministry of Health

  • Maintain accurate records of controlled substances and inventory levels

  • Counsel patients on medication use, storage, administration (including injectables), and potential side effects

  • Coordinate with nurses and physicians for prescription clarification or issues

  • Ensure proper storage and disposal of medications (refrigeration, expiration checks, safe handling)

  • Support safe practices to prevent contamination or medication errors

  • Maintain cleanliness and compliance in the dispensary environment

  • Uphold PIPA requirements to protect patient confidentiality

  • Participate in case discussions and ongoing education related to IVF medications

  • Identify and propose workflow or operational improvements

  • Comply with all applicable provincial and federal regulations (e.g., PODSA, Health Professions Act)

      What You Bring to the Table

      • Minimum of one (1) year of dispensing experience (required)

      • Pharmacy Assistant certification is an asset

      • Strong computer literacy and comfort with electronic systems

      • Excellent customer service and communication skills – providing compassionate, patient-centred care

      • Personal accountability, attention to detail, and honesty

      • Proficiency in spoken and written English
